I use 14k Gold Filled wire, which is not to be confused with gold plated. Gold Filled is where they take 14k gold and roll it into wire and insert another metal in the middle. 14k gold filled jewelry is usually considered a lifetime piece of jewelry. Gold Plated usually is made with 10k gold and is a very fine coating of gold on another base metal that can be scratched and worn off over time. 14k Gold Filled (Rolled Gold) has 100 times more gold in it then Gold plated
I use .925 Sterling Silver Wire, chains and findings. The sterling wire is anti-tarnish.
To care for your wire jewelry you would just treat it as any piece of fine jewelry. You should not wear while swimming or any time it might come in contact with harsh chemicals. There is only a few misc. chemicals that will tarnish the anti-tarnish Silver, so it is best to put your jewelry on after you do your make-up, perfume, hairspray, etc. To keep you jewelry at it's best and keep it sparkling, polish and clean with either gold cleaner for gold (unless it has delicate stones) or delicate jewelery cleaner for the silver and gemstones semi regularly. I do cleaning and polishing for free for all my customers!
